Just because you live in a tiny apartment doesn’t mean it’s not home. You treat your apartment well, you care for your things, and you have renters insurance to protect you in the event that something bad happens. You want your apartment to be as nice as it can, and you work hard to make sure that your guests feel comfortable and cozy.
At Christmas time, it can be a challenge to find decorations that really seem to fit a small apartment. Here are some of the most basic ways to decorate your apartment for Christmas without making it look cluttered:
- Start with a small Christmas tree. The tree is the largest of all of your Christmas decorations. Consider a tree that’s shorter than four feet in height, or even a tabletop tree. This will keep your floor space free for just getting around.
- Puts some lights around the windows. You can use a minimal amount of space just by wrapping some simple lights around the inside of the window frame. Since you don’t have a front yard to decorate, this will let you show your Christmas spirit to those passing by.
- Consider other small window decorations. Whether it’s plastic clings or something else, decorating the windows doesn’t take any precious floor space and can really add to the feel of a room.
- Add mistletoe to your doorways. Mistletoe takes up a minimal amount of space, and the smaller your apartment is, the more likely you’ll catch that special person underneath the mistletoe.
- Use Christmas-themed candles. Consider using a plug-in candle warmer so you don’t have to worry about putting out the flame, or the risk of a fire and having to file renter’s insurance claims. There are scents like peppermint and cinnamon that are especially appropriate to the holiday season.
- Stack gifts neatly on a small table, rather than sprawling out underneath the Christmas tree. If you’ve got a small tree, they may not all fit. Alternatively, you can just keep them put away until Christmas morning.
