Top 50 Renters’ Lifestyle Blogs

Being a renter has certain freedoms unavailable to homeowners, and for some, it’s a lifestyle choice that can be totally worth it. There is little risk to renting; if the neighborhood takes a turn for the worse, a renter can pack up and move without the worry of sinking property values or loss of investment. Other rental perks include little property responsibility – if a pipe breaks the renter’s responsibility ends with a phone call – and incentives provided by property management that rarely extend to homeowners, even condo owners. Housing rental is a competitive business, and property amenities are often what sway renters to pay top dollar.

It is a little strange that many people won;t consider you successful until you have purchased your own home. As someone who travels fairly frequently, I prefer the flexibility offered through renting. When my sink breaks I just call my landlord, rather than spending my only day off hunched underneath the faucet trying to fix it myself.

I think the main drawback of renting for me is just that I can’t have pets at my place. My girlfriend and I have talked about getting a dog, but it is $1,000 fine if I get caught with one in my building – NO THANKS!

MY advice to anyone considering renting – the more roommates you have, the more mess you will have. I lived with one roommate last year and our place was always nice. I moved into a 9 person house for the summer, and I can’t remember the last time we had clean silverware.
